Once a year, the penguins host a pancake breakfast for kids and their adults. Penguins and Pancakes is a hugely popular event, and people drive from all over to enjoy this unique experience.

The pancake portion of the day comes courtesy of the Pancake Man, an Omaha legend who has been serving pancakes at special events all over the metro area for more than 30 years. Take a few minutes to watch him work - his quick, deft handling of the cakes is entertaining on its own!

After bellies are full and syrupy hands have been washed, it’s time to meet a real penguin. An African penguin and a keeper will arrive for an interactive visit and informational talk. The price of admission even includes a cute stuffed penguin so everyone can take home a little reminder of this special event.

The 2019 dates for Penguins and Pancakes are December 26-30. There are two seating times for each day, and you will need to purchase tickets in advance. The ticket costs are as follows: Adults, ages 12 and up – $20 for members or $25 for non-members; children, ages 2 to 11 – $15 for members or $20 for non-members. In addition to the pancakes, the meet-and-greet, and the plush penguin, the ticket price also includes admission to the zoo for that day.
