Friends Trail in Beavers Bend State Park will open to the public on October 28 and you won’t want to miss a day outside on this beautiful trail.

It is the first trail to be added to the park in over 15 years and it’s one of the most spectacular places to trek in the state.

The trail is a 1.5-mile loop that is rated as intermediate. The trailhead will be at Spillway Creek below the dam.

Right now the foliage is turning hues of fall, so if you go when the trail opens, the scenery will be bold and beautiful.

Be sure to wear sturdy shoes, as the river side of the trail is narrow and rocky. If you hike the trail during the winter, the views are unobstructed of the surrounding mountains and lake below.

It is recommended that you allow at least 1.5 hours to enjoy the hike. Even though it’s only a 1.5-mile hike, the rugged terrain takes a little longer to navigate.
