While we’re not surprised by this, we do want everyone to remember that Maine’s food is so much more than just what comes from the water. This little spot might seem off-the-beaten path to those who stick to the coast, but it’s got a unique take on chicken breasts that folks love. In fact, they come from near and far to try it!

We love this place for it’s unassuming nature. In fact, if you weren’t sure what you were looking for you might just walk right by it. That is, unless you see the many signs outside extolling the deliciousness of their special chicken.

You see, Flatlanders is home of the one and only “Broasted Chicken” meal. The main ingredient (chicken, duh) is somewhere between fried chicken and a roasted chicken.

The result is a crispy outside with an unbelievably juicy inside. It might look a bit like fried chicken, but the taste is like nothing you’ve had before.

Be sure to get it with all the sides. We like cole slaw, but can never turn down the mashed potatoes. Creamy and delicious, smotherd in gravy is how we like it.
