Home to an estimated 450 residents, the town of Yampa is often overlooked for its size, but what it lacks in population it makes up for with its good people and world-class attractions.

Once used by the Ute tribe as a riverside summer camp, Yampa is said to have long been a popular destination because of its lush valley location, which was later established as a homestead for surround mines.

Officially incorporated in 1907, Yampa has worn several hats over the years, including the aforementioned mining homestead, railroad stop, farming community, and - today - the “Gateway to the famed Flat Tops Wilderness.”
