These days, it feels like there’s no shortage of things to do here in Maine. Of course, there’s plenty of outdoors activities like hiking and swimming, but there are also tons of fun business opening up around the state. This spot has been here for a few years, but it’s still as exciting as the day it opened! In addition to being a bowling alley, they also offer movies on the roof and it somehow brings all of our favorite things about the state (fresh air! fun! friends! good food!) together in one place.

Bayside Bowl is one of those places you think of at the first sign of nice weather. Located in Portland, there’s just no other way to enjoy the fresh air in town with a cold drink.

Yes, as the name would indicate it’s a bowling alley. There are enough lanes for plenty of people to get a chance and it’s so well-regarded they often have professional events here.

Plus, they’ve got an absolutely stellar menu! In fact, we’ve come here for dinner without any intentions to bowl. That’s a testament to the size — and deliciousness — of their menu.

And we especially love it during movie season! Starting in mid-May and running through the end of September, Bayside Bowl features movies on their rooftop.

This year’s selections have included Wonder Woman, Jurassic Park, and Isle of Dogs. And, there are still a few more movies left for the season.

Movies are a combination of both classics and new releases which means there’s always a good reason to check them out. And we don’t care how fancy your go-to movie theater is, nothing beats watching a flick with a Maine breeze across your face.

The rooftop at Bayside Bowl is actually a great spot for community involvement. There are often events happening here, including things like yoga.

Bayside Bowl / Facebook While they’re open all year, there are only a few more weeks to enjoy their rooftop movies so be sure to make the most of your summertime in Maine by checking out at least one of them.

Bayside Bowl is open Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday they’re open noon to midnight and on Sunday they’re open from noon to 11 p.m. There are only a fewmore movies scheduled for this season and you can see the full schedule here. You can also take in an outdoor movie at this historic drive-in theater in Saco. It’s one of the oldest in the country and will take you back to simpler times.
