When many people think of UFOs and alien sightings, they think of places like New Mexico, random deserts, and basically any site besides Colorado, which is why many are surprised to learn that the Centennial State is home to not only great places to look for aliens but several reported sightings as well. Believe it or not, this year alone has brought reports of more than 100 different sightings.

It’s a bird! It’s a plane! It’s… a UFO? If you are in Colorado, the chances are that it could be true, as the Centennial State has received a record 117 sighting reports in 2019 alone.

According to the National UFO Reporting Center (AKA, the “web’s most comprehensive and up to date UFO information source”), reports began as early as January 6th, when a cigar-shaped object flew north over Denver for approximately 20 seconds.

Have the UFOs been spotted in the Denver area alone? The answer is no, as reports also surfaced in Durango and Westcliffe, as well as Akron, Trinidad, Antonito, and Berthoud.

Do you think that you have seen a UFO but aren’t sure how to report it? You can do so by visiting the National UFO Reporting Center’s website, which takes reports based on not only the date and location but also duration and shape.

When it comes to spotting a UFO for yourself, not all places in Colorado are created equal. While bigger cities like Denver and Colorado Springs have had reported sightings, you have a better chance of seeing one where skies are both darker and more transparent, like the International Dark Sky Community-inducted Norwood, Silver Cliff, and Westcliffe (pictured).

Did you know that Colorado is home to one of the best UFO watchtowers in America? Whether you want to search the skies by yourself or meet like-minded gazers, you will want to visit the iconic UFO Watchtower, which boasts not only clear skies but also a campground and gift shop.
