This cathedral has a long history.

Yelp / James D. Although the parish was founded in 1805, this building wasn’t completed until 1852. Bishop Flaget decided in 1849 that a new cathedral should be built, but sadly passed away a year later. Another bishop completed the project for him, and the beautiful cathedral still stands to this day.

The interior is one of the most incredible places in Louisville.

The baptistry.

An intricate golden cross .

This chandelier is also very detailed.

The pipe organ is relatively new.

This cathedral does not have pews.

The Altar.

Of course, there are so many beautiful churches in Louisville that it’s practically impossible to name only one as the most beautiful, but I really love the interior of this cathedral!
