If you love burgers, you have plenty of great spots to choose from here in the Beaver State. We particularly love the places that have been around for decades, because in addition to great food, you get a sense of history while you dine. Here’s a burger joint that’s been through a few changes in the last few years, but it’s been an Oregon treasure since 1946.

Welcome to Bridgeside! This place has recently had a name change, but you might remember it as Char Burger, which was a Columbia River Gorge icon for decades.

The Clark family opened this little burger joint back in 1946, and it changed ownership several times over the years.

management/Tripadvisor The original building was replaced with the current one back in 1972, and in 2013, new owner DM Stevenson Ranch purchased the business.

In 2014, the restaurant was completely remodeled. The interior is new and updated, but the view is still exactly the same, and oh what a view it is!

The Bridge of the Gods, which spans the Columbia River, is literally right outside.

In 2015, the name of the restaurant was changed to Bridgeside, which certainly reflects the atmosphere of the restaurant. You’ll definitely get your fill of beautiful bridge views while you’re here.

The dining room is full of cool memorabilia from the area, and it’s a cozy spot.

While there have been a lot of changes here in the last few years, one thing has stayed the same: the food is still every bit as delicious as you remember.
