It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
During the holiday season, our big city zoos are decked out in holiday cheer and bright lights. This year, consider taking a stroll through a little-known (but equally impressive) zoo in Ohio. The Akron Zoo features a wide variety of exotic animals, beautiful gardens and even some rides that kids will absolutely love. During the holiday season, it’s a winter wonderland of sparkling lights on the weekends. Here’s why this little-known zoo light display belongs on your Christmas bucket list this year:
Welcome to Wild Lights at the Akron Zoo, a seasonal event that will instantly put you in the Christmas spirit.

Nearly the entire zoo is illuminated every weekend in December. This year, the lights are on display on December 6 - 8, 13-15, 20 - 22, and 26 - 30.

While not every exhibit will be open, many of the animals will be on display. (You can also stop and meet Santa, the Snow Queen and Snow Princess!)

You’ll journey through the Holly Jolly Hillside, Candy Cane Way and other themed sections. Sip some hot chocolate, take a few pictures and make some memories.
