Recently here at Only In Buffalo, we gave our readers the heads up that the Farmers Almanac has predicted quite the intense winter for us who live out along the Great Lakes. Before our harsh winter sets in though, you’ll want to soak in every bit of fall that you possibly can. According to New York’s official foliage report, we’re right around the corner from seeing our fall colors at their peak. If you’re wondering what adventures you should enjoy before the snow arrives, then check out how this one nearby waterfall is about to be surrounded by all the colors of fall.
Only a half-hour outside of Buffalo, Akron Falls Park is one of our favorite places to visit in Erie County when we’re looking to spend some time outdoors.

Akron Falls Park is made up of nearly 300 acres, all of which you’re able to explore thanks to the park’s well-kept trail system.

When hiking through the park, you’ll follow Murder Creek, a natural landmark that will help lead the way while you’re here.

Eventually though, you’ll find yourself hearing the small but mighty roar that’s emitted from Akron Falls along the creek.

Cascading down roughly 40 feet, Akron Falls is absolutely breathtaking to see all throughout the year, but there’s something splendid and spectacular about seeing this waterfall while it’s surrounded by Western New York’s fall foliage.

With plenty of time to still enjoy the region’s changing colors, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t make the quick drive out to the town of Akron.
