Washington is home to some seriously impressive wildlife, most of which will never be seen by a human being. But if you happen to have a family full of animal lovers, there is a way you can get up-close-and-personal with both native wildlife and exotic mammals. Sequim’s Olympic Game Farm is a drive through wildlife exhibit, meaning the animals can (and do) come right up to your vehicle.
The Olympic Game Farm was originally designed as a holding facility for the animals of Disney Studios.
dahardesty1 / TripAdvisor From the 1950s to the 1970s, the animal actors were housed and cared for here. But in 1972, after Roy Disney had passed away, the owners decided to care for the animals themselves and open the park to the public.
These days, the farm is a pleasant drive through experience that offers an up-close-and-personal glance at plenty of wildlife.
jdmseattle / TripAdvisor Your self-guided drive tour will take you through 84 acres of terrain filled with animals, many of which are not shy.
You’ll see everything from llamas and elk to tigers and zebra here.
Olympic Game Farm Facebook All proceeds from the farm’s tourism go toward feeding and caring for the animals.
You’re welcome to interact with and even feed the animals, but all guests are expected to follow the rules.
Wendy S. / TripAdvisor The only thing guests are allowed to feed the animals is wheat or whole grain bread. You can bring your own (it will be inspected) or purchase it at the farm. And don’t worry, the animals are all fed a healthy, balanced diet daily, so they aren’t relying on the bread for sustenance.
Olympic Game Farm won the Wildlife Conservation of the Year award in 1996 from the Washington Association of Conservation Districts.
rcrhodes3 / TripAdvisor Some of their animals still make appearances in films on occasion, but most of them prefer to live lazy lives on the farm.
Olympic Game Farm is open all year, but they do close on major holidays and when local weather conditions are harsh.
CheekyMonkey12 / TripAdvisor They’re open daily from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. Weekends are the busiest times, so try to go as early as possible (or stick to weekdays).
Admission to the farm is $17 for adults, $14 for seniors and children from 6-14.
Rod B. / TripAdvisor Children 5 and under are always free. Also, although it typically only takes about an hour to drive through the farm, tickets are good for the entire day of purchase.
