We’ve been all about the fall foliage lately, but today we’re focused on getting our feet moving. While you’re likely to experience some beautiful changing leaves on this short hike, you can do it any time of year. The most important part of the experience is the lovely bridge and beautiful waterfall that exist just a short distance from your starting point. So throw on some shoes and get moving for one of the most relaxing hikes you can take in New Hampshire.
Let’s head to Franconia Notch State Park to explore the Whitehouse Trail! The route begins at the Liberty Spring Trailhead parking lot which is north of the Flume Visitor Center.

The short trail is accessible to those who can walk and hike and at 1-mile it’s fairly short. Note that the trail is also an out and back route, which means when you’re done you’ll just turn around and head right back the way you came!

While it’s parallel to the main road, the sound of the nearby river should help you feel more secluded and immersed in nature.

While not one of the state’s largest examples of falls, this simple boulder waterfall is fun for beginner hikers to see after their first foray into the woods.
