Remember when this year’s Farmers’ Almanac predicted “a parade of snowstorms” for the coming winter? Well, apparently Mother Nature didn’t want to wait that long. Browning was hit with four feet of snow at the end of September, and we’ve been seeing flurries is most parts of the state ever since. If you look outside today and it appears to be snowing more heavily than usual, that’s because most of Montana is being bombarded with icy blasts.
We’re certainly no strangers to snow here in Montana, even before (and after) winter’s official dates.

Still, the weather reports lately have been pretty daunting, especially for early October.

The budding storm has resulted in a severe storm warning issued through the weekend.
Shiny Things / Flickr While less snow will fall from this storm than the recent late September storm, accumulations will likely range from a few inches in parts of northern Idaho and the eastern parts of Montana and Wyoming to a whopping 24 inches in south-central Montana.
The largest amounts of snow are likely to fall over the Elkhorn, Bighorn, Beartooth, Madison, and Absaroka Ranges.

According to Weather.com, this snowfall may end up breaking some October records.

Most of us enjoy the snow here in Montana… after all, we live here to experience all four seasons.
