If there’s one food we Texans love more than anything else, it’s barbecue. Our love runs so deep, in fact, that we’re willing to travel to all corners of the state in search of the best, most tender and flavorful meat. Luckily, all that driving won’t be necessary next month because the restaurants are coming to us! Houston is hosting its 8th annual barbecue festival on Sunday, April 5, and it’s something y’all don’t want to miss.
Once a year, over a dozen iconic barbecue restaurants from all over Texas convene to celebrate the cuisine that defines our state. The three-hour event allows guests to eat until their heart’s content for the price of entry alone.

Stuff your face with brisket, sausage, turkey, and several other types of meat, all slow-smoked to fall-off-the-bone perfection. Notice the lack of sauce, which is a wholly unnecessary addition and only serves to cover up bad BBQ. But using cornbread in place of white? Genius.
