Pull out your calendar, yinzers! RADical Days are just around the corner, and that means plenty of family-friendly fun around Pittsburgh for 25 days between September 19 and October 13, 2019. Best of all? It’s all free. RADical Days feature free admission to many of the organizations funded by the Allegheny Regional Asset District. Here are just some of the things you can do during RADical Days in Pittsburgh.

  1. Explore the past.

Facebook/Heinz History Center Get a peek at Pittsburgh’s past as you explore the six floors of the Heinz History Center. Admission is free for guests on Saturday, September 21, 2019. Kids can play in the Kids’ Zone, visit memorabilia from Mister Rogers Neighborhood, and climb aboard an authentic street car. The RADical Day also gives Pittsburghers a final chance to check out The Vietnam War exhibit.

  1. Visit the Pens’ home.

  1. Look for owls on an evening hike.

Facebook/Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve Embark on an evening hike at the Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve in Fox Chapel. First, however, learn more about the lives of owls. You might even see a few on your hike at the event set for Thursday, September 26, 2019 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

  1. Sing and dance with the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera.

Wikipedia/Daderot Have kids who love the arts? Students with the Civic Light Opera’s Academy will perform for you and them. And, kiddos between three and 17 will have the opportunity to learn a song and a dance. The event takes place on Sunday, September 29, 2019 from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

  1. Meander through beautiful gardens.

Facebook/Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens Spend a leisurely day at Phipps Conservatory & Botanical Gardens. Free admission to the popular Pittsburgh attraction will be offered on Wednesday, October 2, 2019 from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

  1. Waddle with the penguins.

Facebook/National Aviary Can you think of a better way to spend a Sunday than with the animals? Both the Pittsburgh Zoo and the National Aviary are offering free admission to guests on Saturday, October 6, 2019.

  1. Go behind the scenes at PNC Park and Heinz Field.
