The Deer Hunter stars Robert De Niro, Christopher Walken, John Savage, John Cazale, Meryl Streep, and George Dzundza. Weirton was used to film mill and trailer shots in The Deer Hunter. Super 8 was filmed on Main Street in Weirton. The J.J. Abrams movie is about a group of friends who witness a train crash and investigate a series of unexplained events.
