- Steel Creek Campground - Compton
Google/Malcolm Baskerville There’s no way to not be relaxed while floating along the Buffalo National River. Stay under the stars at Arkansas’ first Dark Sky Park by pitching your tent at the Steel Creek Campground. This campground is much smaller than the Buffalo Point Campground since it only has 26 sites. Camping is $20/site.

- Carver Campground - Hasty
Google/Jeremy Elless If you’re needing another night along the Buffalo then take your tent to Carver. This little campground only has eight sites, making it perfect for someone wanting a quiet night before setting off for another float. Water and vaulted toilets are available but otherwise this is a primitive campground.

- White Rock Mountain Recreation Area - Winslow
Google/Stephan Siems We’ve stayed at the river now let’s head up to the mountains. Instead of packing in at Mount Magazine, head to White Rock for a secluded night on the mountain. White Rock Recreation Area is a stunning gem in the Ozark National Forest. Stay in one of the area’s cabins or at the lodge; or, pitch your tent for a more authentic camping experience. Campsites are $10/night.

- Erwin Estate - Malvern
Facebook/Erwin Estate Let’s continue up in the mountains at an even higher elevation. The Erwin Estate is situated on the southernmost highest altitude point in Arkansas. The raised platform for your tent showcases one of the best views in the state. This one-of-a-kind campsite is $100/night and can be booked right here.

- Richland Creek Recreation Area - Witts Spring
Google/Chris Williams Waterfall chasers will fall in love with the Richland Creek Recreation Area. The campground is primitive but is rich in opportunities for adventure. Twin Falls, Richland Falls, Six Finger Falls and Falling Water Falls are just a few of the nearby sights to see. Camping is $10/night.

- Haw Creek Falls Recreation Area - Hagarville
Google/Trey Willis Another waterfall-filled campground can be found along Haw Creek. Camping is right next to the Haw Creek Falls but two other cascades are just a short hike away. The campground has nine sites for $10/night and is considered primitive.

- Crowley’s Ridge State Park - Paragould
Facebook/Arkansas State Tourism You don’t have to head to the Middle-of-Nowhere, AR to reach a relaxing campground. One of our favorite state parks for low-key camping is at Crowley’s Ridge. There’s only twenty-six campsites and the crowds mostly keep to the swimming lake during summer. Camping starts at $14/night.
