There are not a lot of Kansas covered bridges still hanging around, especially when many of the best ones have fallen over the years or have been removed. With that in mind, we’re going to enjoy the few we have, especially in the beautiful fall month that Kansas lets us enjoy. Come see these covered bridges surrounded by great views!

Michael Harris/Google Sedgwick County Park is an often overlooked area of Kansas that has plenty of space for kite flying as well as other activities. Their little covered bridge looks great in the fall months, and is perfect for a stroll through the cool air.

  1. Lake Shawnee - Topeka

Kristen B/Google Next up is one covered bridge hiding out near Lake Shawnee, at the Ted Ensley Gardens. It’s 60 feet long, and hangs over a little stream with gently flowing water.

Julie Crenshaw/AllTrails Our next covered bridge is hiding out along the Prairie Sunset Trail, perfect for hiking or biking your way through the scenery. It runs from Goddard to Garden Plain, if you’ve got the time to travel the 12 miles.

Heather Akred/Facebook Our last covered bridge makes its home at the Sedgwick County Zoo, hiding just behind the flamingos right near the entrance. This one also leads to the petting zoo area, but don’t forget to get distracted by the fishies first.

If you find it more fun to enjoy the longest hiking trail instead of many different areas, check out some of the best historic stops.
